Considering what you had to go through to get that far in your day, and that you were only OUT in the ice and rain because of that nonsense, it's amazing that you had even a flicker of fellow-feeling left. That you had enough to possibly risk your life for a stranger is pretty important.
Even, perhaps especially, a drunk, ungrateful stranger. :)
