Feb. 18th, 2003 01:53 pmMy mum loves to listen to these silly romance novels on tape. I like to sneak into the kitchen and surprise her at key moments in the story--i.e., when the hero is expressing his love, etc.
Today's offering was spectacularly cliche-ridden, and at the point where the narrative went, "What else could she do but say yes?" I jumped up and replied, "She could say no!"
My mum, who is used to this by now, didn't even bat an eye: "He's got money."
"Oh. Hmm. That's all right then, I suppose."
"I should say so."
Rats. I'll have to think of a new way to bug her while she's cooking.
