For ours, my boyfriend and I had a romantic night at a classy hotel, followed by a Sunday brunch which shall remain the stuff of legend. But that was over two years ago, and neither of us had any privacy whatsoever at home, and we both had a lot of the same friends, which meant dates often turned into group excursions. So, really, the "anniversary" was just an excuse to be alone for a few hours. ;) Things were exciting, magic and wonder were everywhere. Neither of us had ever been in love before.
Now, though, we pay rent, we live downtown, we have full-time jobs. Sometimes we are too tired to say more than a couple of words to each other in the evenings before falling into bed.
My boy does not send me flowers, and he's not good at remembering anniversaries. If he ever did have a romantic bone in his body, I think he shattered it falling off his bike long before we met.
But last night we played head-to-head Tetris for an hour, and for me, that's romance. :)
