I was reading through some old e-mails and found this, which is probably one of the most brilliant and whacked-out things I have ever written. It's an e-mail to a friend who was working on a syntax assignment, breaking up a short paragraph from a novel into various syntactic elements, and was struggling with the phrase "When he left her that morning years before".
